Casting on the River at Dunkeld House.
The warmest of Scottish welcomes in a historic setting
The natural beauty of the Perthshire countryside has attracted visitors for generations - and there's probably no better location in which to appreciate and enjoy its splendour than at Dunkeld.
Our lodges are situated in the grounds of the Hilton Dunkeld House, a resort which promises to put back a little of what life takes out.
Set in 280 acres of woodland magic, Dunkeld House was built over 100 years ago by the 7th Duke of Atholl. It combines the elegance of an original baronial hunting lodge with all the comforts of a modern luxury country house hotel.
You are in the Highlands of course, but still only an hour away from Edinburgh or Glasgow. The scenery is beautiful, breathtaking or quaint, depending on which part you are looking at.You are awakened by the sound of birdsong and the burbling of the River Tay as it flows past – a welcome change from the incessant noise of today’s traffic. Stunning and historic, you are part of a world that perhaps you thought had gone forever.
The hotel offers many attractive features for Lodge Owners, particularly the Garden Restaurant with its friendly, relaxing Cocktail Bar and Lounge adjacent. Ross Turner, executive chef and Colin Thomson, chef de partie, won awards in March 2008 Hotelympia 2008 competition in London. Ross claimed third place in the prestigious Tilda UK Chef of the Year competition and Colin took gold with first place in the World Master Chef Society Young Chef Challenge.
The popular Living Well Spa and Health Club has a 17 metre pool as well as steam room, sauna, gym, hair and beauty salon, aerobic classes etc.
Within the estate, Dunkeld Park brings you an abundance of outdoor leisure pursuits:
- Clay pigeon shooting
- 4 x 4 off-road driving

Although you will find plenty to keep you occupied within the resort, you should not miss out on the glorious scenery of Perthshire. The town of Dunkeld itself is particularly picturesque, full of interesting shops and beautiful buildings, such as the historic Dunkeld Cathedral. Given the wealth of places to see and things to do nearby – country walks, castles, distilleries, golf courses, amazing views – no wonder this area is known as the Heart of Scotland.

Walking in the woodland near the Hermitage.
The clear air, pure waters and rich countryside contrasting with the grandeur of the Highland landscapes make Perthshire the ideal setting for a host of outdoor pursuits, and you'll soon discover your own favourite activities and pastimes.
