Website design notes
The Dunkeld House Lodges Club website has been designed in accordance with prevailing standards (2009) for design coding and accessibility. Specifically:
Coding Standard
The website is coded (and fully validated) in "XHTML 1.0 Strict". XHTML 1.0 is the W3C's current recommendation for coding, brings the rigor of XML to Web pages and is "the keystone in W3C's work to create standards that provide richer Web pages on an ever increasing range of browser platforms including cell phones, televisions, cars, wallet sized wireless communicators, kiosks, and desktops." In layman's terms. it future-proofs the website as far as can be done.
Coding Standard
The website is designed to AAA accessibility standards. The W3C defines examples of end users of the web who may have difficulty in using poorly designed sites:
- They may not be able to see, hear, move, or may not be able to process some types of information easily or at all.
- They may have difficulty reading or comprehending text.
- They may not have or be able to use a keyboard or mouse.
- They may have a text-only screen, a small screen, or a slow Internet connection.
- They may not speak or understand fluently the language in which the document is written.
- They may be in a situation where their eyes, ears, or hands are busy or interfered with (e.g., driving to work, working in a loud environment, etc.).
- They may have an early version of a browser, a different browser entirely, a voice browser, or a different operating system.

Scripting
The website uses JavaScript for the following functions:
- Heading text formatting, to give a distinctive feel to the site
- Email address encryption, to minimise the risk of spam
- Google analytics, to provide anonymous statistics for visitor demographics, allowing the design to be improved as appropriate based on how visitors use the site.
The site may be used with JavaScript switched off with no loss to the core information.
